Omental mass combined with indirect inguinal hernia leads to a scrotal mass: A case report

Background Primary omental tumors are uncommon, and fibromas account for 2% of these tumors. Due to the low incidence limited relevant literature, it is challenging clinicians make an accurate diagnosis this condition, especially before surgery. Case summary A 30-year-old man was admitted hospital because a left epididymal mass with vague discomfort more than 1 mo. physical examination performed, findings showed that may have entered abdominal cavity. Pelvic computed tomography performed in our revealed inguinal hernia hernial contents, no masses were found epididymis. traditional incision made. Intraoperative contents be greater omentum, 2.5 cm-diameter at distal end omentum. The scrotum epididymis did not exhibit other masses. Then, omentum excised. frozen pathological suggested spindle cell tumor. postoperative angiofibroma. Postoperatively, patient recovered well discharged. Outpatient re-examinations mo half year after operation obvious abnormalities. Conclusion morbidity rate associated latent nature tumors, difficult diagnose preoperatively; thorough medical history taking, detailed examinations, necessary imaging auxiliary examinations can help treat cases.
